Janet Bird

UX Designer | Front-End Developer

I am a UX Designer and

a Front-End Developer.

I am a recent graduate of HackerYou. I come from an extensive working background in both technological and creative design. After ten years in the architectural field, I made a career change into tech, because of my desire to find more innovative and challenging work. My design approach is to be as empathetic and communicative as possible. An understanding of project management and web development provides me with the ability to collaborate and empathize with my team members.

Outside of my work life, I am naturally a creative person. I have a history in professional architectural and commercial photography. I am also rediscovering my passion for sketching and drawing.

Orange.

Orange is an app created to help poets and writers lay down some lines. The design of the app needed to evoke creativity and have an energetic feel. Due to the simplicity of the app and the arbitrary app name, we used images to provide immediate information to users about the app.

GoFundMyWedding

GoFundMyWedding is a website, built in a team of three. It helps soon-to-be married couples create a registry of gifts. Wireframing and workflow brainstorming was crucial to the process of the design. As a more complex app, navigation and creating a uniform look across all pages was important to the app's success.

To The Trails

`

To The Trails is a fun quiz to help you decide on your next hiking adventure. The design is meant to create a sense of adventure and discovery. The use of animations leads the user down the page, and simulates a trail walk. The intention was to bring users on a journey, while discovering their next hiking destination.
